Blogging Journey (and how I got here)

Please note – this post does contain affiliate links which means Pawsitively Me will earn a small commission from sales of certain items (see Disclosure & Legalities for more information). But always keep in mind these opinions are completely my own and I would never recommend a product I didn’t feel was relevant to my audience.

My blogging journey began shortly after I rescued Malloy. I woke up one morning inspired to write and already had a name in mind! When I first began, I started writing from the heart, explaining my journey in finding Malloy and my goals of eventually turning him into a harness-walking adventure cat. I had thought that maybe this would stay a personal blog that I would send to friends and family to follow our journey…but the more I thought about it, the more I realized I wanted to write for others and to share our journey with the hopes of inspiring them.

Here is one of the original Pawsitively Me graphics I had made early on in my journey.

I have always been an animal lover and advocate, wanting to save every homeless (and not so homeless) animal I came across. My passion for cats and (rescue) animals coupled with my love of writing, inspired me to make my blog more public in order to share our adventures and findings with others.

I have been following a blogger for years, Natalie from At Home With Natalie, who I came across on Pinterest a while back. She had thrown the most adorable birthday party for her daughters out of giant boxes, and I instantly fell in love with her creativity and parenting style. I had seen on her Instagram feed a while back that she had created a Blogging E-Course (For Moms), but was intrigued all the same. I was a huge fan of not only her writing, but her family was absolutely adorable and views on life felt real and connectable. I had also reminded myself that I’ve always gotten along with people older than me and remembered the bond I always managed to create with parents I babysat for. Needless to say, I decided to sign up for her e-course. The information I learned through her course coupled with access to her Facebook community of other bloggers who have taken the course, made the $25 price tag fully worth it!

I have only been on my blogging journey since October, less than six months, and already I feel like I have learned so much, not only about myself, but about the entire blogging community in general. The people that I have met so far, and the new ones I continue to meet daily, are so inspiring and supportive, I’m thrilled I decided to take the leap!

If you are interested in starting a blog of your own, I’d love to chat and help you get started – here’s a link to Natalie’s e-course for those of you ready to jump right in!

Natalie’s course gave me a huge insight on blogging basics and what it takes to start/run a successful blog. I have learned that there is SO much more to blogging than I had initially thought. In fact, I was in for a huge wake-up call when I became self-hosted (went from wordpress.com to wordpress.org) after I purchased a domain. This course has really helped me outline the steps needed to take and the order in which they occur, and has opened up access to an amazing community of bloggers who are more than willing to help & answer questions.

I can honestly say that blogging has changed my life and continues to change it every single day. I am thrilled I decided to take the leap and start this blog all about Malloy and our adventures, and Natalie’s course helped me get here!
